L’anidride carbonica non è una molecola qualunque. Sin dall’antichità l’essere umano ha sentito il bisogno inspiegabile di svolgere azioni che la producessero, di spostarsi alla ricerca del luogo maggiormente permeato da essa. Con la rivoluzione industriale l'essere umano è riuscita nell’impresa di costruire macchinari in grado di produrre così tanta CO2 da alterarne la concentrazione nell’atmosfera. Oggi, la scienza ha compreso la ragione di questo fenomeno: l’anidride carbonica è una droga e l’uomo ne è dipendente, assuefatto.

Carbon dioxide is not like any other molecule. Since ancient times, human beings have felt an inexplicable need to perform actions that emit it and they constantly relocated in search for a place that is fully permeated by it. With the industrial revolution, mankind succeeded in building machinery capable of producing so much CO2 that its concentration in the atmosphere was altered.
